REDI Recycling office welcomed the President of North Macedonia, Mr Stevo Pendarovski

On February 1, 2023, the REDI office welcomed the President of North Macedonia, Mr Stevo Pendarovski, as he met with the REDI team to discuss the company’s innovative approach to waste management and its commitment to creating dignified work opportunities for informal waste collectors. During his visit to REDI, President Pendarovski expressed his strong support for the company’s efforts to establish a Recycling Center and create green job opportunities for marginalized groups.

REDI Recycling is formalising the work of informal waste collectors by employing them in the company and offering them the chance to exercise their job with dignity. These collectors provide free-of-charge service to 250 buildings in Skopje, collecting plastic and paper waste that is then transported for recycling. This approach aligns with the principles of the circular economy, which aims to reduce waste and promote the reuse and recycling of resources.

“At REDI Recycling, we believe that everyone deserves a chance to earn a fair wage and work with dignity,” said Mr Asib Zekir, Director of Redi Recycling. “By employing informal waste collectors and formalising their work, we are not only improving their livelihoods but also contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable environment for our community, in line with the principles of the circular economy.”

REDI Recycling is a social enterprise established by REDI NGO, which is dedicated to promoting sustainable development and creating positive social impact. The company is a prime example of how businesses can drive social change and contribute to a better future for all.
