REDI – Roma Entrepreneurship Development Initiative

We’re happy to announce that the REDI pilot project finished successfully back in December 2016.
The main focus of REDI was to determine the entrepreneurship potential in Roma communities from Romania and Bulgaria, the development potential of Roma communities using entrepreneurship, as well as the barriers faced by Roma entrepreneurs in accessing products offered by mainstream financial institutions.
Our pilot project’s most important achievements are: a database of 1106 existing Roma entrepreneurs in Romania and Bulgaria, strategic partnerships with 3 local microfinance institutions, who agreed to set-up earmarked portfolios for Roma entrepreneurs but also collaborate much closer with the REDI field teams in 2017.
